According to Wikipedia: “In linguistics, grammar is the set of structural rules that govern the composition of clauses, phrases, and words in any given natural language. The term refers also to the study of such rules, and this field includes morphology, syntax, andphonology, often complemented by phonetics, semantics, and pragmatics. Linguists do not normally use the term to refer toorthographical rules, although usage books and style guides that call themselves grammars may also refer to spelling and punctuation.”
This is very interesting because there are many years since I have actively thought about grammar even though I write every day of my life. I never stop to make a conscious analysis in terms of my sentence structure, tenses, etc; I just write as if correct grammar is a given.
Now that I want to study Spanish for the DELE exam, I am trying to freshen up on what grammar is, and what do we need it for (superficially put).
